Entrepreneurship: What it is and what matters

Interview with Prof. Dr. Günter Faltin, entrepreneur, professor and founder

Entrepreneurship is not only beneficial for the economy and innovation. Günter Faltin states that ‘entrepreneurs are composers,’ ‘entrepreneurship is personal development’ and ‘entrepreneurship creates charisma.’

Günter Faltin is a university lecturer in Berlin and Chiang Mai, founded the Entrepreneurship Foundation and established the concept of entrepreneurship with its various components. His book ‘Kopf schlägt Kapital’ (Head beats capital) is a classic work on entrepreneurship. But Günter Faltin doesn't just write and teach, he lives and breathes entrepreneurship and has founded companies such as Teekampagne and eBuero. He has inspired many founders to build successful companies. On the sidelines of a conference in Bangkok, we talk about entrepreneurship as an attitude and his very personal insights from many years of entrepreneurship.

Topics:

  • Entrepreneurship. What defines the lifestyle and attitude.
  • Components. Entrepreneurs don't have to be able to do everything themselves.
  • Teekampagne. An old product reimagined and remade.
  • Capital. Capital is not nearly as important as we thought.
  • Narrative. A lot of nonsense is said about start-ups. What really matters.
  • Concept maturity. How can you tell when a concept is mature? ‘In your bum! You can't sit still anymore.’
  • Innovation. Entrepreneurship needs market advantages and something truly new.
  • Retirement. A completely wrong concept. Those who remain active stay young and healthy.
  • Idea children. Create company children who make the world a little bit better.
  • Vision. We need more entrepreneurial culture in the world and in Germany.
