From law student to serial entrepreneur: Max Wittrock in a live interview!

Max Wittrock simply cannot help himself: no sooner has he shaken up the breakfast market with MyMüsli than he throws himself into his next adventure. This time it's all about beer – but not just any beer, stylish alcohol-free beer. In an exciting interview, he chatted about his journey to founding the company, the highs and lows of start-up life and what drives him. Watch the full video here (In German):

How it all began: From university to entrepreneurship

Max actually had a different plan: study law, pass his state exams, start a career. But then everything changed. Together with his co-founders Hubertus and Philipp, he launched MyMüsli in 2007 – an idea that came about by chance (or rather, thanks to a radio advert). The mission: Customisable organic muesli for everyone!

Starting a business is like riding a roller coaster

The first big hurdle? Getting started! According to Max, most ideas fail because they never get past the ‘I should...’ stage. His tip: Write down your ideas and just get started! He also says that having the right team is worth its weight in gold. At MyMüsli, the founders complemented each other perfectly – and that was the secret to their success.

From the breakfast table to the after-work drink: Zerolabs is born

After leaving MyMüsli, Max was itching to get started on his next big idea. Together with his new co-founder Moritz – yes, the duo really is called Max & Moritz – he asked himself a simple question: Why isn't there a really good non-alcoholic beer that doesn't taste like a compromise?

The answer: Zerolabs. The vision: 0.0% alcohol, 100% taste.

How do you launch a new beer?

With a lot of patience! Brewing beer is a science in itself, and developing the perfect recipe took time. At the same time, Max & Moritz built their brand on social media (mainly LinkedIn and Instagram) and tested the market at events. LinkedIn as a sales channel for beer? Sounds crazy, but it works!

What can we learn from Max?

  1. Just get started: Perfection is overrated. The important thing is to take action.
  2. The right team is everything: People who complement each other well remain stable even in crises.
  3. Not everyone has to understand right away why an idea works: Sometimes it takes time for the market to be ready.
  4. Perseverance pays off: Success rarely comes overnight, but with smart marketing and a good product, you can go a long way.

With Zerolabs, Max Wittrock proves once again that he has a nose for innovative products. We are excited to see where the journey takes him next – and say cheers!
