#MEET Preventing Childhood Malaria Death in Rural Gungu and Malaria Care International Center

1. Please, tell us a bit about yourself: where are you from and what is your background?
My name is Mr. Louison B. Mbombo, I'm from Democratic Republic of Congo, currently resident in Brazil. Student in the faculty of Medicine at Federal University of Minas Gerais(UFMG ) and President of a Congolese non-for-profit Organization SOLIDARIEDADE NA MOKILI. I m focus to promote behavior change and awareness at the community level to improve care health and care for orphans, vulnerable children, and women. Investing to vulnerable people to build sustainable, healthy and productive communities.
2. Can you describe your idea or project in two sentences?
I want to improve the quality of life by creating a world where no child will die to a mosquito bite and free world from the burden of Malaria.
3. How did you get your idea or concept?
I get the idea during a class; the professor was teaching about Malaria vector, I told him that I already suffered from Malaria because in my Country the Democratic Republic of Congo there is a high burden of disease. I was ashamed to expose this situation in public than I decided to set up an organization that will fight against diseases, poverty and will guarantee the Human Right. In sub-Saharan Africa Children under five years old are paying the highest price of the disease. Some children are the victims of an acute attack of cerebral malaria which rapidly leads to coma and death; Others succumb to severe anemia due to repeated infections or to the consequences of underweight at birth, which is itself explained by a malaria uterine infection.
4. What is unique about your idea/project and how does it benefit mankind?
The access to healthcare has been a big problem for people in a rural area and most of the world simply forget that they exist and they are also human race.This project will give favor to these persons that are the main beneficiaries. The project is a new hope for Africa towards the elimination of Malaria. We want to implement innovative strategies based on the development research for universal coverage of population through integrated malaria control services.
5. Describe yourself as an entrepreneur in one sentence
Someone who set up ideas to solve problems.
6. How do you deal with people that doubt your abilities/initiatives?
I believe in myself and I know where I want to arrive. People who doubt to my abilities/initiatives I give them reason because of people like us; we are very rare as red mercury in nature.
7. Where does your passion lie?
Decision maker, I'm passionate to make a decision that improves everyday lives.
8. What are you afraid of or what keeps you up at night?
I'm afraid of wasting my time for useless things.
9. According to you, money is a synonym for.....
An opportunity that can be used to reach goals.
10. If you could rid the world of three things, what would they be?
- Poverty
- Conflicts
- Disease
11. What are the benefits you take from the Entrepreneurship Campus?
Online courses and network to meet Entrepreneurs around the world.
12. What do you like more about the Entrepreneurship Campus?
I like the opportunity that the campus provided for us to create an entrepreneurial mindset and the way to be realist with our ideas/project.
